Simple Book and Paper Repair Workshop — March 5th (SPACE LIMITED)

If you are interested in learning about simple book and paper repairs, this workshop is for you!

The UIUC Book Conservation Lab and the student chapter of the Society of American Archivists are holding a simple book and paper repair workshop on March 5th, 2010 from 6pm to 8:30pm. Professor Jennifer Hain Teper, Head of the Conservation Department, will provide an introduction to simple repairs such as mending tears, tip ins, hinge tightening, surface cleaning, and consolidation of frayed cloth corners. Students will leave with a basic knowledge of simple repairs and a few tools (materials for book weights and bone folder) which they can use in future repairs. Space is limited to 12 students and is on a first come, first serve basis. Cost for the workshop is $25 and is non-refundable.
